People of all age groups can benefit from mobile learning, especially students, because it simplifies teaching, facilitates learning from anywhere, and monitors children's progress effectively.
FREMONT, CA: The covid-19 pandemic has only accelerated the rapid changes in the world. As remote working, teleconferencing, and e-commerce boom with the pandemic, another sector has reached new heights - E-learning. Millions of children moved to mobile phones to continue their education as the world closed its doors following strict stringent measures and lockdowns.
However, smartphones and mobile applications are the future of nearly everything, not just learning. The number of smartphone users is way over 6 billion, and younger generations are adopting smartphones faster than anticipated. With so much penetration, e-learning applications are gradually becoming the norm, not only for kids but also for adults who want to supplement their skills. After the pandemic, learning mobile applications has proven how valuable they are and how they might be the future of education.
Mobile learning's rise: It is not just for school children who want to learn concepts or catch up on their syllabus that online learning is beneficial. Higher education and corporate training have embraced mobile learning as well. Global lockdowns paved the way for a variety of e-learning technologies. As a result of centralized content, flexibility, and convenience, e-learning has grown tremendously. Smartphone use among the younger generation also fuels this growth.
Mobile applications are the future of e-learning because of the following reasons:
Offers learning that are highly efficient: Learning retention rates are determined by the medium in which information is presented. Text-based learning has the lowest retention rate, with only 10 percent, followed by video-based learning at 20-30 percent. Due to the engaging, interactive, and playful nature of e-learning applications, students can retain up to 90 percent of the information.
Accessibility: Mobile learning applications have eliminated the need to travel to school to learn. Children can now learn from home or anywhere else without having to travel. The use of learning applications ensures that no student is left behind, even if he or she cannot travel to school for a few days. Live lessons or recordings have made it easy for students to review concepts they missed or need additional help with at their convenience.
The abundance of resources is another key feature of mobile learning. Students can choose a different learning process altogether with e-learning instead of following a traditional curriculum. With the abundance of resources, including live classes, interactive learning, gamified concepts, and visually appealing graphics, e-learning offers endless possibilities. Moreover, learning mobile applications allow students to push their boundaries and learn new things without disrupting their curriculum.
